Scanlationshop

To be honest, I haven't used scanlationshop very much. The last time I used it was ages ago. The concept is very original and creative, and I honor Stmated for creating it.

So I can't help noticing that people don't use it. Why?

I don't use it because, well, I can't. If you've ever downloaded my translations, you'll notice that I have a very (unnecessarily?) elaborate format. Scanlationshop recognizes my "panels" as "page numbers", which makes the whole program extremely hard to work with, in addition to making many features useless.
Secondly, I discovered scanlationshop long after I started translating, so I was pretty used to tabbing back and forth. It's second nature to me, and even though one of the main points of translating with scanlationshop is to put the raws and the text file on the same window... I didn't really need it. If it had some sort of (Japanese) image-to-text viewer that then automatically gives multiple translations for each word via WWWJDIC, then I would use it.
I also find the features (other than translation features) extremely complicated and hard to understand. I find Photoshop, GIMP, Pixia, etc. much easier to understand, and I don't really see why there has to be another (much more complicated) program that does exactly what other photoediting programs do. Although scanlationshop is specialized for scanlating, unless someone starts editing (from scratch) with scanlationshop, I think they'd be too used to the functions of other popular photoediting programs to fully understand this program.

While I do respect Stmated for trying so hard, and mostly succeeding, in making an awesome program, there are things I don't like that prevent me from using Scanlationshop.

Break

D:

I'm moving to Japan. I have to study, among other things. I'll still be admin at vi and help out whenever I can, just no more hardcore translations until next year.

New Manga: Let's Lagoon

Translating Chapter 11 tomorrow. Dunno if I'll officially pick it up, and I haven't read any of the previous chapters yet so I don't know if I'll like it, either. Although it seems popular so I probably will...

Anyway, the translation will be up by Monday. I have no control over the proofread and typeset, and viscans is currently low on typesetters (SO JOIN! D: PLEASE!)
Let's Lagoon is a Viscans project, and was released on their IRC channel. Viscans is currently lacking typesetters. So apply! ^_^

Edit: Let's Lagoon chapter 11 translated!! Next chapter will come out next month, since LL is in Gekkan Young.

Lost universe- Chapter 14-20 translated

Yay~! :3 finished.

"Kane Blueriver and Canal, his AI companion, are trouble contractors who take jobs which require their special skills. This could go from armed escort, to patrol, to capturing dangerous criminals. Milly is a private eye who has to be the best at everything (uchuu ichi!!). When the three of them get together, they run into one mess after another, gradually uncovering more of a mystery that ties the legendary Lost Ships to all of their pasts, bringing them closer and closer to a discovery that something called Nightmare would rather not have them find..."

The last chapter was reaaaally long compared to the others. D:
But most manga are like that, I guess. Or they spread the ending out into two different chapters and the cliffhanger doesn't make sense XD

So, yeah, I'll post the translations after CoolSnoops finishes scanlating them.

Volumes 1 and 2 scanlated by J-comX and Swordbreaker.

Lost Universe is a very interesting science fiction manga. The art is exceptionally good and the plot is well-built (I believe it's the manga adaptation of a novel?) The characters are also well-developed and fun, and the author does a good job of making the story serious and funny at the same time.

Frankly, I'm surprised that nobody has scanlated volume 3. :P

Anyway, I'm translating it right now. I've done a chapter a day since I started on chapter 14, and I'm on chapter 18 now. ^_^ I'll post it here when CoolSnoops is done scanlating it.

On a side note, I finished Shin Bannou Bunka Neko Musume (a while back, actually). Haven't posted it because CoolSnoops isn't done.
I let Asokagal, a new jp translator at viscans, have 51houhou (I will be checking it) . Hopefully she'll be done with chapter 30 soon xD

Viscans's anniversary is almost here!! :O

Hey guys

Sorry, haven't been translating recently. I'll make an effort to now, though, since I'm technically on summer vacation (still have school).

In other news, many chapters of Kanojo wo Mamoru 51 no Houhou were released recently. Chapter 25 was released, viscans is still working on chapter 26. (I've translated up to chapter 29.)
Cool Snoops asked me to translate Lost Universe volume 3, which I'll start translating as soon as I finish this post. Translations for LU (and Neko Musume) will be up for grabs after CS finishes scanlating them :3

thanks for reading~!
